Dragon Officer's Saber, Modified 1854 Model
DRAGON OFFICER SABER, modified 1854 model.
Polished gilded brass mount with four branches adorned with foliage and palms.
Horn grip, filigree present.
Straight polished steel blade with four hollow sides, hallmarks present but not legible, it should be thoroughly cleaned.
On the spine of the blade, inscription partly erased Manufacture d'armes de Châtellerault or de Klingenthal.
Brown buffalo tie. Blade length: 92 cm.
Sheet steel scabbard with a bail strap.
Note: Engraving with a count's crown and monogram on the pommel.
The crown of nine pearls that we see evokes a count's crown, in French heraldic symbolism.
This saber would have belonged to a count or a noble officer.
