Only about 25,000 of these sabers were produced between 1822 and 1851. They armed the cuirassier, carabinier, lancer, and dragoon regiments during the reign of Louis-Philippe (1830-1848), the Second Republic (1848-1852), and the Second Empire (1852-1870).
It features a very fine, slightly curved Montmorency-style blade of a length of 97,5 cm. It is signed on the back by the "Manufacture de Châtellerault in August 1833" and is hallmarked at the ricasso with the letter "B" and another illisible stamp (see photo).
Splendid and massive gilded brass, four-branch officer's guard decorated with foliage.
Wooden grip covered in black leather with twisted copper wire.
Steel scabbard with two suspension rings.
Very good condition. Slight oxidation at the tip of the blade (see photo).
Overall length is 117 cm. Blade alone 97,5 cm.
Impressive collector's item, entirely original and never modified
