Henri Génois "beautiful, Elegant"
Artist: Henri Génois
Oil on canvas "Beautiful, Elegant," signed and dated lower right, Henry Génois 1905. French School. 117 x 81.5 cm. Henri Génois (1847- ) was a student of Alexandre Cabanel (1823-1889). He exhibited at the Salon from 1868. He was a member of the Société des Artistes Français from 1883. The Musée d'Arras holds one of his works (sources: Bénézit dictionary of painters and sculptors). With economy of means, a soft, delicate, and almost parsimonious palette, the artist does not simply create the portrait of a very charming young woman; through his talent, he allows us to share in the inner beauty of his model. Modern painted and gilded wood and stucco frame. A few minor retouchings on the canvas. Good overall condition. €3300.
