"young Man At The Bar" Soungouroff Anatola (1911-1982)
Artist: Soungouroff Anatola (1911-1982)
Anatola Soungouroff (1911-1982) was of Russian origin. His early career, from 1942 to 1960, was very successful. He painted strikingly beautiful faces of boys, haunted by a certain set of features: the same full lips, the same velvety eyes, seemingly to convey a secret more and more deeply and profoundly. "My sailors, my fishermen, my gypsies, my legionnaires, my Saint Sebastians... are like absent and distant figures, yet they are beautiful. They express his obsession." During this period, he exhibited his works at the Bernheim Gallery on Rue de la Boétie in Paris. He then moved to Cannes and exhibited for many years at Galerie 20. Charcoal, pencil, and watercolor drawing, signed lower right and dated 1976, in perfect condition. The frame shows signs of wear, with damage to two corners on the sides. Image size: 60 x 40 cm; with chrome frame as is: 82 x 67 cm
