François Gangémi, Modernist Linear Drawing On 19th-c Manuscript With Stamps, C20th

Unusual and elegant ink drawing on an old handwritten 19th-century French document, signed Gangémi.

The artist has created a stylised female face using flowing, abstract lines over the text, incorporating several Napoleon III “Empire Français” blue stamps into the composition. The combination of antique paper, postal elements and modernist line work gives the piece a unique charm and sophistication.

Dimensions (framed): 44 × 38 cm.

Provenance: French flea market.

I don’t often buy paintings, but I thought this had real style!
