About David Haviland: In 1842, David Haviland settled in Limoges, the world capital of porcelain, and created the Haviland workshop, the future cradle of a precious art and know-how. He began writing the history of the Haviland family, a name synonymous with the art of French luxury that endures to this day. A merchant by trade, David Haviland established an earthenware and porcelain import business in New York in 1838. In 1842, captivated by the "white gold" of the Limousin region, he crossed the Atlantic to settle in Limoges, where he founded his own factory. Limoges porcelain experienced irreversible growth, and David Haviland was acclaimed worldwide for his innovative vision. He received awards as early as 1853 in New York, including a gold medal at the Crystal Palace Exhibition, and later, the French government recognized his talent by awarding him a silver medal at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1855.
