Refined Provençal walnut commode of graceful, balanced proportions, dating from the 18th century.The front features two large drawers with shaped reserves and curved mouldings, typical of southern French craftsmanship of the period. The slightly flared sides give the piece a light and elegant silhouette, enhancing its visual harmony.
The lower apron is richly carved with stylized vegetal and floral motifs, centred by an openwork double scroll. Finely chiselled gilt bronze handles and escutcheons add brightness and a refined decorative accent.
The legs were replaced with skill during an early restoration and carefully integrated into the original framework; a small repair can also be seen on the lower front rail.The warm, lustrous patina of the walnut highlights the natural grain of the wood, revealing the passage of time and enhancing the charm of the piece.
