Trompe-l'œil Still Life: Grapes, Currants And Glass – Watercolor

A beautiful trompe-l'œil watercolor, exceptionally well executed.
Against a dark, neutral background, a few fruits (grapes and currants) stand out, along with a large glass demijohn whose top is covered with a fine white fabric.
The textures, reflections, and transparencies are what make this serene work so captivating.

The artwork is very well framed, with a deep, silver-edged mat highlighted by an orange border. The frame itself is made of a molded wooden strip stained in orange and gray.

The work is monogrammed and dated '96' in the lower right corner.
