Ludovico Stern (circle Of) – Pair Of Large Still Lifes – Oils On Canvas – 18th Century

Pair of large oil paintings, each depicting a tall bouquet in a ceramic vase on a table. The style of these works is characteristic of the late Baroque: exuberance and apparent disorder of the plants, diversity of forms and species.
The bouquets stand out against a dark, brownish-black background.
The works are clean and in good condition, despite the existence of old rest of minor paint chips.  These are the original canvases, without any old tears. The reverse side shows inscriptions in Italian.
The works are framed with a thin rod that has been regilded.

These works are the work of a painter undoubtedly belonging to the circle of Ludovico Stern, a painter active in Rome, known for his history paintings and large floral compositions, in a style quite similar to those we present here.
