Philibert Legare: French Solid Silver Wine Taster 18th Century, Burgundy, Avallon, 1774
A rare Louis XV period solid silver wine taster from the Avallon mint, with a plain design and serpent handle. The rim is engraved "C. TANRONI". It bears the hallmark of the Avallon mint (crowned O) from 1774, and the countermark and hallmarks (body and handle) are repeated three times by the master silversmith Philibert LEGARE, who was admitted to work in Avallon in 1767. This rare wine taster from the Avallon mint is in very good condition and well hallmarked, with only minor scratches from use. For the discerning collector.
