Cavalry Officer's Saddle Late 18th Empire
A French-style line cavalry officer's saddle.
This saddle was for officers of cuirassiers, carabiniers, or dragoons.
It is made of white buffalo leather, entirely decorated with topstitching; a simple tree adorned with formerly gilded copper studs.
This saddle is missing its under-saddle flaps.
It includes two buffalo leather stirrup leathers with two brass officer-style stirrups, some with traces of gilding.
The pistol grips are made of strong brown leather with their original chiseled cabochons, and the fixed grip covers have retained 80% of their hair, which is rare.
The original closure system, consisting of a strap encircling the body of the grip, is also present.
