1804. Printer: Didot The Elder. Poetry By Clotilde De Vallon Challys
This work of French Renaissance poetry, seemingly appearing out of nowhere but published by the finest printer in France in 1803, written by an aristocratic woman of unknown origin at the time, was a great success. It also sparked a controversy among the leading authors of the day, who questioned whether it was a genuine discovery or a hoax. Even today, the mystery remains unsolved. It is therefore an interesting document on the Romantic vision of the past held during this period of great audacity, including in literature. A few stains, but generally in good condition. 257 pages
