Female Saint - Region Of Cologne, Late 13th Early 14th Century.

This female saint—possibly Mary Magdalene—was carved in the round ("ronde-bosse")

She has the typical S-shaped posture characteristic of the late 13th/early 14th century. 

The statue probably originates from the Cologne region, where high-quality wooden sculptures were produced at that time. 
The figure's robe has rich and stylish tracery that continues at the back. The face, typical of Rhineland art, has a mystical expression that is further accentuated by the almond-shaped eyes. 

The attributes are missing, but the elegant posture and expression could be those of Mary Magdalene. The bottom of the statue is missing, probably due to damage from that period (moisture, fire?). The overpainting was removed down to the remains of the original polychromy.
