Macchad or Mashhad rug, Iran circa 1950-1960 in hand-knotted kork wool.
Density for approximately 360,000 knots per m2, in good condition, wear from use.
This very beautiful rug comes from the province of Mashhad, a beautiful, highly crafted piece.
It has slight wear from use. Light price for such beautiful quality.
Mashhad is the second largest city in Iran located in the Northeast, it is nicknamed "the city of a thousand faces."
This rug has a very beautiful decoration of a large rosette like a sun (influence of Zoroastrianism) with two large pendants in the shape of a halberd, covering the field. In the center of this medallion, a flower with eight petals surrounded by small stylized flowers.
Over the entire field appear fine wavy flowered volutes, and large bouquets.

The colors of great freshness, vivid, have a dominant of a beautiful red and deep blue for the field and the border.
Note the quality of the border formed by large, fairly narrow volutes, decorated with flowers and a wide central band embellished with a floral decoration.
The field decorated with a beautiful, very elaborate central medallion is set by four small spandrels, the fringes are in average condition and clean.
This carpet has been professionally and ecologically cleaned.
