First half of the 19th century France – Massif Central - Auvergne Finely engraved blond horn snuffbox, rectangular in shape, fitted with a metal hinge. The lid features a stylized deer, framed by two trees of life with symmetrical branches, forming a composition of great symbolic power. On the reverse, the date 1840 is engraved in a frame decorated with crescent friezes, in a naive and regular style specific to rural folk art. This hunter's snuffbox reflects the sensitivity of a self-taught craftsman, expressing through engraving a language that is both poetic and spiritual.
