Rare and beautiful Flemish School "The Village Dance in a Tavern" oil on wood panel, well framed in an early 19th century frame with a large molded cornice with palmettes. This painting of an interior scene represents an intense moment of a scene of joy where the peasants dance vigorously. Dated 1640 in a cartouche, this charming genre painting from the first part of the 17th century (birth of Louis XIV), a lively scene, the attentive little dog in the foreground marking the pose. All the details are there for this festive atmosphere of a painting (numbered collection of the Atelier deTéniers-le-Vieux or of himself unsigned and bearing the inventory number 649. This Work is well in the demand of this period faithful to the village traditions, it comes from a castle of Tarn-et-Garonne and we can easily think that the Gascons are having fun to forget the worries of the time.
