16th – 17th Century Italian Shield

This beautiful example of 16th – 17th century Italian craftsmanship, this wonderful shield painted with a rampant lion surmounted by a cartridge with a motto.

The red lion rampant on a gold background was the coat of arms of the Ubertini family of Tuscany. From the Casentino area and are one of the noble families of the grand duchy in Tuscany.

The owned large territories the extended from Florence towards Arezzo and areas of Siena and Pisa.

The shield is in excellent condition but sadly the motto is not completely legible due to wear and age.

Beautiful overall condition of museum quality.
