The sculpture, with its beautiful expressiveness, accurately conveys the movement and power of the animal, the half-open mouth revealing naturalistic details of great finesse. This type of sculpture, emblematic of 19th century Alpine craftsmanship, was often made in the workshops of Brienz (Switzerland), renowned for the quality of their animal sculptures. Beautiful old patina and original polychromy preserved.
