"Pair Of Gilt Bronze Candlesticks, Restoration Period – Circa 1820 "
Pair of gilt bronze candlesticks, Restoration period – circa 1820 Superb pair of finely chiseled gilt bronze candlesticks, dating from the Restoration period, circa 1820. The shaft is decorated with a diamond-shaped guilloché pattern, framed by chiseled rings of stylized palmettes and gadrooned friezes. The circular base, wide and solidly placed, is magnificently decorated with a frieze of intertwined foliage, executed with great precision. The whole demonstrates a high quality of execution, typical of bronze art productions under the Restoration, a period marked by a return to classical elegance and fine ornamentation, inherited from the Empire but softened in its lines. Dimensions: Height: approx. 27 cm Diameter of the base: approx. 13 cm Very good condition. The original gilding is well preserved, with a beautiful patina of time that highlights the refinement of the chiseling. Refined work, probably from a Parisian workshop.
