"Farmhouse Table, Early 19th Century."
This farmhouse, kitchen or office table is full of the rustic charm of country furniture. Made by local carpenters, in local species, it bears the scars of its daily use. Found in a lovely little Sologne house where it was still used as a dining table and kitchen table, it is no exception to the rule and bears the traces of intense use, game was cut up and vegetables were prepared, still earthy, freshly picked. Its mortise and tenon construction is basic, even if the assembly is pegged, the craftsman who designed it also ensured its solidity with numerous forged nails that appear here and there. It is made of fruit wood, in the center of the belt is a long drawer that crosses the table in its width and is pulled from one side to the other using a brass knob. On one end there is a deep drawer which is fitted with a knob and a steel rosette, on the other end there is a device which was intended to receive an extension which has now disappeared, finally on this side a pull called sliding releases by opening a space where the loaf of bread was stored. Period early 19th century. Dimensions 194 cm x 85 cm, height of the top 79.5 cm, height of leg passage 54 cm and leg passage under the large drawer 50 cm.
