18th Century Kneeling Monk In Polychrome Wood
Large and rare representation of a kneeling monk in polychrome wood from the 18th century. The monk, dressed in his tunic called the frock, is presented with his right knee on the ground and his right hand on his heart. As for his left leg, it is straightened, revealing his foot and his sendalle. The young face, this monk has a haircut characteristic of the monks of the time called the tonsure. The face is particularly fine, and the whole still includes its original polychromy. Quality work in good condition for the time, missing the left hand and wear of the polychromy.
