Artist: Victor Uytterschaut
Superb, elegant late 19th century watercolor of a dejuene on the grass by Victor Uytterschaut (1847-1917). Victor Uytterschaut was a renowned Belgian watercolorist who participated in the renaissance of this discipline in Belgium, where he exhibited works born of pleinairism for nearly half a century, playing a decisive role in the evolution of this artistic movement. A member of the Royal Belgian Society of Watercolorists, he became one of the leading figures in the circle. This watercolor shows a group of figures in period costume, men, women and children seated on the ground beside a dune. Superb drawing, bright, luminous colors. A highly realistic work depicting a real-life scene from the period. Signed and dated lower right R. Uytterschaut 1887. Presented under glass in a period frame. Quality work in excellent condition.
