The latter is decorated with twelve stars. The symbolism of the Twelve takes us back to the Old Testament, notably with the twelve tribes of Israel, as well as to the New Covenant with the apostles. The whole is topped with a cross enriched with glass beads. In the center of our monstrance is presented a tiny relic of Saint Eugene resting on a gold thread trimming. This is probably Saint Eugene, Martyr of the 3rd century and companion in misfortune of Saint-Denis.
