Pair of wall sconces with two light arms in finely chased and gilded bronze, representing draped putti supporting the arms ending in fluted sockets and gadrooned bobeches.
The decoration mixes garlands, drapery falls and acanthus motifs, typical of the Louis XVI ornamental vocabulary.
This model is directly inspired by a design by the ornamentalist Jean-Louis Prieur (1732–1795), whose compositions were widely used by Parisian bronze makers in the second half of the 18th century.
Fine quality work produced around 1880–1900 in the 18th century style by a Parisian bronze makers.
Note that the sconces have been pierced for electrical installation.
