Polychrome Earthenware Guinea Fowl, Early 20th Century

Animal sculpture representing a guinea fowl with black livery punctuated with characteristic white spots.

The subject is treated in a naturalistic style, both expressive and decorative. The earthenware is glazed in bright polychromy: black and white plumage, purple crest, red wattle, yellow legs, plant base in nuanced hues. The piece is modeled in the round, hand-painted and rests on a small integrated base representing a grassy ground.
No visible marking under the base, but the whole evokes the Italian or Provençal productions of the 20th century, in the spirit of Bassano, Vallauris or certain earthenware factories of Castelnaudary or Malicorne.

Very good condition, no accidents or restoration.
