Large Italian Baroque Embroidery
Very large Italian embroidery in silk and red coral threads from the Baroque period, probably Neapolitan, representing a Roman soldier in armor sleeping under a tree near his horse, observed by a monkey from a branch, a fortified Roman city or Jerusalem behind him.
Embroidery of fine quality with applications of coral and small mirrors and tinsel.
Circa 1680 - 1700. Probably Neapolitan.
