Important multiple reliquary – Relics of Saint John the Baptist and Saint Cecilia, Virgin and Martyr – 19th century

Rare Catholic reliquary from the 19th century, presented under curved glass, decorated with golden paperolles and cut metal ornaments forming radiating crosses.

Description

The reliquary contains 24 relics, carefully arranged and accompanied by their handwritten labels (tituli).

Among these, difficult to identify:
Saint John the Baptist, Saint Lawrence, Saint Vincent, Saint Stephen, Saint Agnes, Saint Cecilia, Saint Bartholomew, Saint Theresa.veil of the Virgin Mary, Saint Augustine
Other names, although present, are now partially erased.

Dimensions: 28 cm x 23.5 cm

Condition:

Good overall condition with period wear, original display case.

The writing on some labels is faded by time. In accordance with canon law (can. 1190 §1), this sale concerns only the reliquary as an object of sacred art. The relics it contains are not the object of the transaction, but are included free of charge for their historical and cultural value.
