About the Goldsmith: Founded in Birmingham in 1870 by Phineas Harris Levi and Joseph Wolff Salaman, the house of Levi & Salaman was one of the most famous in England at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, renowned for the exceptional quality and refined design of its creations. Hallmarks and Provenance: Each gold item bears a full set of English hallmarks, guaranteeing its authenticity. It is exceptional to find a complete set where all the pieces were made by the same goldsmith in the same year.Goldsmith: L&S for Levi & Salaman.City: L'ancre for Birmingham, England.Year: The letter 'a' for the year 1900.Fineness: 375 for 9 carat gold.Condition: Excellent antique condition. The crystal is chip and crack free. One lid is slightly looser fitting than the other.
