"Sevres Porcelain Le Petit Vendangeur Biscuit Figure, Circa 1760"
A Sèvres porcelain biscuit figure of Le Petit Vendangeur (The Little Harvester), a young boy leaning on a tree stump with a basket of grapes, carrying a flask in his left hand, c.1760, from the series 'Enfants Falconet' modelled by Etienne-Maurice Falconet (Paris 1716 – Paris 1791) based on the engravings 'Enfants Boucher' after drawings by François Boucher (Paris 1703 – Paris 1770). This example was modelled by Josse-François-Joseph Le Riche, who began working at Sèvres in 1757 as a pupil of Falconet. In 1780 he became chef des sculpteurs under Boizot. 14.5cm. high
Marks: incised 'LR5' for Le Riche.
Condition: Very good for age and type. Basket handle restored. Minor losses to grapes/vine leaves in the basket. No other damage or restoration (examined under ultraviolet light) found.
