"Pigs In A Stable, Circle Of George Morland (1763 - 1804), Oil On Canvas"
Magnificent oil on canvas depicting a sow and her three piglets grazing and feeding, circled by the English painter George Morland (1763-1804). Framed in a gilt and carved frame from the late 1870s, the work of the famous sculptor and gilder James Alexander Butti, it bears a label on the reverse. Two figures, dressed in magnificent costumes, observe the piglets, under a cloudy sky. Beautiful crackles adorn the entire painting. Last sold at Christie's in the 1980s. Good dimensions. Ceiling light included.
