Antique French Empire mantel clock in gilt and patinated bronze. The theme of the clock is "Children Playing". Its wide base rests on six round feet and is decorated with an ornament depicting various children playing. The dial and clock are integrated into the symmetrical rectangular center of the clock. This centerpiece is decorated with two standing sphinxes. The centerpiece features a gilt roof where two cupids are playing. One, in a cape and hat, is holding a rattle. The other is also grasping it. Magnificent original gilt-plated mantel clock, in excellent condition. Original eight-day cord movement with bell strike, hours and half-hours. The white enamel dial, marked "à Paris", is in perfect condition, with Roman numerals and beautiful steel "Breguet" hands. Key and balance wheel included.
