Bronze Column Fireplace Clock - France Circa 1820
Bronze column mantel clock - France circa 1820
Type: column mantel clock Dimensions: Height 52 cm Width 28 cm Depth 18 cm
Gold-plated column mantel clock with 4 columns. The timepiece is very special and has a very heavy compensation pendulum with knife suspension. The movement features a scissor escapement/pin escapement system.
This is specially designed because this mantel clock has a central second hand.
Partly thanks to this system, the pendulum works for 14 days. Chiming mechanism at full and half hours, ringing a small silver bell.
The mantel clock is in good original condition. Signature: Collin in Paris.
The description and signature can be found in the book: “Dictionary of French observers” page 136 Number 157
