Large pewter PITCHER in baluster shape with pedestal, oblique straight goblet and raised lid with flat roof fitted with a thumb with two buds.
Trace of the hallmark of Bernard ESCARRE received master in 1680 reproduced by René Richard in "Etains du Languedoc et du Roussillon". Ref 357. The last photo represents the hallmark of this master reconstituted from several incomplete findings. Height: 27.4 cm.

Repair to the belly and small refills.
The pitchers from this center, relatively rare to find, have retained the typology of the raised flat roof lids of the prototypes of the 15th century.
Let us recall here that these pitchers were the wine measures of the Ancien Régime; those who served in inns, taverns, public places... had to be checked periodically to ensure "good measure" for the consumer.
