French School of the 18th / 19th century. Pair of oils on panel depicting hilly landscapes against a mountain backdrop. Some animals and characters enliven the sites. Period fiber reinforcement on the back of the panels, one of which has traces of collector's wax seals. Panel size: 48.5 x 32.5 cm Period circa 1800. Attribution or the entourage of Jean-Louis de MARNE. 20th century wooden frame. Jean-Louis DE MARNE, artist born in Belgium (1752 - 1829), sometimes spelled Demarne or Demarnette, is a French genre painter and engraver. He was inspired by colleagues such as Nicolas Antoine Taunay and Jean-Frederic Schall, Dutch painters in vogue in Paris.
