19th Century Bird Of Paradise Brooch With Pearls, Gold And Silver Turquoise In Case
This stunning brooch features a bird of paradise with open wings holding green gold leaves in its paws and a leaf engraved in a pink conch shell centered with a button pearl. It is crafted in silver with a vermeil back and intricate details that highlight its graceful form. The bird's body is entirely studded with micropearls, while the wings and tail are adorned with natural turquoise, stones highly valued at the time for their significance of protection and luck. Its eye is a red crystal cabochon.
Between its paws, the bird holds a composition of chiseled and engraved green gold leaves and a leaf carved in a soft pink conch shell. A button pearl and a shell pearl of the same pink finish this motif.
The needle and the C-shaped brooch attachment are made of 14-carat gold tested to the touchstone. The combination of materials: cold silver, warm gold and precious stones in light blue tones, as well as the naturalistic composition of leaves gives the brooch a perfect aesthetic balance, making it a unique and evocative jewel of the late 19th century.
It comes in a beautiful case with a count's crown numbered H in burgundy leather lined with satin and velvet from the house of Samper J.DEBUT & L.COULON, 16 rue de la Paix, Paris. The case is not the original one but it complements the box perfectly.
Perfect condition, 19th century period, circa 1880.
