Fireplace Set, Signed Bailey Banks & Biddle - Philadelphia, 19th Century

Superb Louis XV Rococo style mantelpiece, in finely chiseled gilt bronze, with a rich decoration of floral scrolls, arabesques and polychrome enameled flowers. The clock is surmounted by a seated putto, and rests on a moving base adorned with mascarons and scrolls.
The gilt bronze dial is finely decorated with purple and pink enamels, with Roman numerals, signed Bailey, Banks & Biddle – Philadelphia, a prestigious American jewelry house. The mechanical movement, for its part, is of French origin, stamped Henry – Paris, guaranteeing quality manufacturing. The two matching candelabras with five light arms take up the refined decoration, with richly worked baluster vase-shaped shafts resting on moving bases.
