Both vases feature hand-painted decoration and are signed, attesting to high-quality artistry. Each vase rests on an elegant cobalt blue base and foot enhanced with refined gilding, with a rich gilt metal mount, adding contrast and brilliance to the whole.
The vases are surmounted by spectacular naturalistic bouquets in gilt bronze, of remarkable chasing quality: slender stems, finely detailed leaves and flowers, forming veritable three-dimensional floral compositions. Some elements incorporate candle holders, allowing for decorative use akin to a grand mantelpiece or drawing-room ornament, typical of the Napoleon III taste for luxurious and theatrical pieces.
