The Virgin and Child is a Christian iconography that represents Mary holding the Child Jesus in her arms. These images are very common in Christian art, and they symbolize divine motherhood, tenderness and maternal love. Santibelli are small plaster or clay statues for domestic use. When they are made of clay, they are typically Marseille whose golden age is between 1820 and 1860. Their size varies from 25 to 50 cm.
