Joseph-Gaspard Robert (1722–1799)
Joseph-Gaspard Robert founded his factory in 1754. This production is part of the Marseille context of the 18th century, also dominated by the factory of the Veuve Perrin (Marie-Rose Perrin, active from 1748 to 1803), known for its translucent enamels and hand-painted floral decorations.
Their productions share strong similarities: camaïeu decorations, polychromes, gilding, turned forms, etc. Trained as a painter before running his own factory, Robert developed a production of earthenware decorated with polychrome and gilded motifs, marked by the evolution of Rococo taste towards Neoclassicism.
