He holds under his left arm his cuirassier officer's helmet 1825 which has the particularity of having a headband of a cuirassier helmet of the Royal Guard model 1825. H 100 cm x 81 cm. Painting signed "René Cadeau". Gilded wood frame, H 120 cm x 101 cm. NOTE: This officer is most certainly a former officer of the cuirassiers of the Royal Guard whose cuirass he kept by modifying the shoulder pads and his helmet of which he changed the crest for the model of the line. BIOGRAPHY OF THE ARTIST: CADEAU René, genre and portrait painter, born in Angers on February 15, 1782, died in Paris on October 28, 1858. Pupil of Pierre Guérin.
