Elegant neoclassical living room table, known as a cabaret table, oval in shape, veneered with mahogany. It rests on four tapered, sheathed beech legs, finished with period bronze shoes, and connected by a spacer shelf notched on the front. The apron is made of softwood. The top is adorned with its original Aleppo breccia marble, recognizable by its yellow background enlivened with brown, red and gray polychrome fragments. This marble, highly sought after in the 18th century, was formerly broken and then restored, but has been preserved and preserved. It is surrounded by its period openwork bronze gallery, decorated with rings, typical of cabaret tables intended for serving tea, coffee or hot chocolate. The underside reveals a traditional construction: the spacer shelf is fixed to the base by four oak keys, three of which are old replacements. There are also some old veneer grafts on the legs, very well done and almost invisible. This piece of furniture belongs to the typology of cabaret tables, small living room tables intended to receive a service of tea, coffee or chocolate, very fashionable from the middle of the 18th century. These tables could be rectangular, circular or oval, and often had a marble top surrounded by a gallery (cf. Havard, Dictionnaire de l'ameublement, 1890; also illustrated in Verlet, Les meubles français du XVIIIe siècle). The model presented, by the sobriety of its belt, the discreet curve of its spacer and the use of the tapered base, is part of the neoclassical aesthetic of the Louis XVI period. Dimensions: H. 76 cm W. 53.5 cm D. 41 cm Shelf height: 23 cm
