Wrought iron Firesteel, a form that existed in Roman times, this one rather early Middle Ages, a model with pretty scrolls, pocket, small size, 6.5cm, the flat part of hammer decorated with ocelli, 9 on one side, 6 on other.
These ocelli on metal objects, jewelry, keys, small forge, are attached circa year 1000, Carolingian, Viking.. We do not often see them on beating lighters.
Good condition, nice size, 6.5 cm x 3cm, iron of hammer quite worn.
