Very large, massive carriage gate key from the first half of 18th century; one can imagine the thickness of double-leaf gate… Inverted heart-shaped ring, nearly 1.5 cm thick, set on a turned embasement, solid shank 1.5 cm in diameter, ending in a knob; beautiful rectangular bit, featuring a central heart, muzzle with 6 teeth.
A beautiful piece, deliberately massive, with a lovely polished patina.
26 cm x 6.4 cm, weight: 0.5 kg!
Good condition as found, with some wear and in need of cleaning.
