"African Mahogany Longcase Clock With Four-melody Chime – Bell's, England"
A superb English clock from the renowned Bell's brand, made in the 1940s, featuring an elegant African mahogany case. It is equipped with a luxurious 10-rod chime, allowing four magnificent melodies to be selected using a selection lever. The clock strikes the quarter hours and, on the hour, a gong marks the exact time. It is manually wound. The case has a front door with lock and key, which, when opened, reveals the pendulum and a practical lower compartment with a shelf for storing the key. The upper part of the case can be slid forward, giving access to the engraved bronze dial, decorated with Roman numerals, and allowing the entire mechanism and chime to be admired.
