Bargueño Salmantino - 20th Century - Walnut, Polychrome Bone, And 24 Carat Gold Leaf

Majestic Salmantino Bargueño (Spanish cabinet/Secretary) from the beginning of the 20th century. Made entirely of walnut and adorned with polychrome bone and 24-carat gold leaf. As tradition dictates, it comprises two sections, an upper one, supported by four ball and claw feet, and a lower cabinet.

The upper section features three drawers on each side, each brimming with polychrome bone decorations and adorned with wrought iron keyholes. The wood is intricately carved and coated with 24-carat gold leaf. The handles, wrought iron pine cones, lend an exquisite touch.At its center, a luxurious secretary reveals a door embellished with caryatids and polychrome bone columns. Its wrought iron key completes the ensemble. Inside, compartments and drawers of varied sizes, one discreetly hidden, provide ample storage. The entire locking mechanism seamlessly integrates into the wood, secured with dovetail joints.

The lower section, or chest of drawers, boasts two drawers, meticulously carved and gilded, featuring polychrome bone motifs and pine cone-shaped handles. The closure, embedded with antique hinges, ensures a secure seal. Below, two doors conceal additional storage compartments, mirroring the exquisite exterior decoration of the upper drawers.
