Sideboard, Varnished Sycamore Maple, France 1955

Here is an interesting French-made sideboard circa 1955. This piece of furniture has well-proportioned dimensions and its shallow depth gives it a touch of lightness and elegance. It has two side doors concealing a total of four shelves whose positioning is adjustable in height. This center is occupied by five drawers whose front faces are slightly inclined, thus providing grips for opening while giving it a particular cachet. The manufacture of this piece of furniture is very neat. It is adorned with a beautiful sycamore veneer both outside and inside. A pretty bronze macaron adorning the upper drawer conceals an old non-functional lock entry. This piece of furniture is in a magnificent state of preservation both cosmetically and functionally both outside and inside which is practically in new condition despite its almost seventy years. The drawers slide perfectly and the door hinges are impeccable.
