Pewter baluster pitcher with short flared foot, quarter-round goblet and acorn thumb.
Control hallmark: crowned C / (E)SSOYE /---/.
Unidentified and incompletely affixed master's mark already encountered bearing the vintage of reception at the mastery of 1671.
Height: 22.3 cm.
ESSOYES (Champagne), Early 18th century

This control is the only one used in this center during the century and encountered bearing the vintage 1701. This fact is not rare, the edict of Louis XIV establishing the obligation of control was not rigorously respected, in certain centers as is the case in ESSOYES, we only know of one vintage and it is most often that of the year of the edict in 1691. Therefore, the control hallmark is not enough to precisely date the objects that bear it to the year as is often the case in goldsmithing.
Extremely rare provenance in perfect condition, 6th example from this small Champagne center encountered in more than forty years, .
