Cherub Wall Console, Regency Period
Very beautiful model of a gilded wood wall console, in the Regency style, from the early 18th century. The lower part presents a child's head framed by wings called a cherub, a spiritual symbol of protection. Above the head unfolds a curved scallop shell serving as a support for the console. The lateral parts of the shell are decorated with foliage emerging from architectural scrolls, this very pretty visible detail of profile treated with openwork increases the technical prowess of the master sculptor. Scalloped top decorated on the edge with a frieze of oval pearls. Usable dimensions of the top: 15.5 cm long at the bottom and 12 cm wide at the maximum in the middle. Hanging system on the back, called "invisible", original. Several scattered chips of the gilding visible, general wear of the gilding which do not alter the charm of the object aged approximately three centuries... Note: the quality of sculpture, especially that of the shell treated in a very realistic way. Do not hesitate to contact me for more information. Price not negotiable. Delivery for mainland France: 15€, other destinations contact me.
