Large Pewter Cimarre - Joinville (champagne), Early 18th Century

Large pewter CIMARRE in baluster form with high pedestal, molded flared throat, moving top lid and two-seed thumbpiece; it is fitted with a fixed handle and a ogee-shaped swing with cherub head attachments.
Hallmarked on the lid and on the outside bottom:
1°- control mark: crowned C / IONVIL / 1717.
2°- Unidentified master mark: crowned lily / two stars / NRL
Height: 30 cm.
JOINVILLE, Between 1717 and 1721

The immediately later listed control hallmark is that of 1721 and therefore allows us to limit the dating.
This control of 1717 contains two engraving errors in its matrix : the C (signifying common pewter) has been reversed and the V of Joinville is a U.
This master with the initials NRL has eluded our attempts at identification for decades...
Very good condition, a slight fragility at the bottom of the throat at the location of repeated contact with the swinging handle is however noted.
These cimarres were ceremonial vessels intended for serving wine at the table
