BIOGRAPHY:
Born in Sheffield, John Trickett attended Winteringham Grammar school, and, although his artistic ability was recognised, it was Trickett’s dream to play professional football. This he went on to do, at first playing association football with Grimsby Town, and signing his first professional contract with Torquay United.
These being the days of modest remuneration for footballers, Trickett moved on, spending some time as an accountant, and as a fork-lift truck-driver on his return to Grimsby. However, it was during his years in Torquay, in his early twenties, that Trickett started painting portraits, landscapes, and seascapes.
The artist was born.
John Trickett is now celebrated as one of the most important dog painters of our time, producing beautifully depicted pictures of Pointers, Springers, Border Collies, Terriers, Retrievers and Labradors. Trickett’s paintings can be found throughout Europe, America, Australia, and Japan.
